On Tuesday, 2nd July, Transit Media worked alongside campaign group 38 Degrees to deliver a highly visible and impactful political message to the heart of Westminster. The digital ad van campaign, powered by one of our London-ready units, formed part of a coordinated protest against the Government’s proposed welfare cuts targeting sick and disabled people.
A Campaign That Nearly Didn’t Happen
Originally scheduled following an earlier hearing on Friday, 29th June, the campaign was temporarily cancelled after ministers appeared to backtrack on the most controversial aspects of the bill. However, as the situation changed again over the weekend, and concerns grew around the Government’s shifting stance, Transit Media was able to respond quickly and get the vehicle back on the road, ensuring 38 Degrees’ message was seen at the exact moment MPs arrived to vote.

Amplifying Public Voices Through Outdoor Media
The digital van displayed bold, unmissable messages including “Say No to Cruel Benefits Cuts” and featured a real-time supporter count of more than 119,000 people opposing the measures. Quotes from those directly affected by the proposed changes were also featured, placing the voices and lived experiences of people with disabilities at the centre of the campaign.
As the van parked outside Parliament, its presence attracted national media attention and wide political support. A group of 17 rebel MPs stood publicly in front of the vehicle in solidarity, boosting the visibility of the message across TV and online news throughout the day.
Powered by People: A Campaign Driven by Public Support
This campaign wasn’t driven by a marketing team or a media agency. It was made possible by the actions of thousands of ordinary people. Supporters of 38 Degrees raised the funds for the ad van stunt in just a few days, building on months of public pressure and mobilisation.
Hundreds of thousands had already taken action to oppose the proposed cuts, making it clear that this issue affects lives and communities across the UK. The campaign carried one powerful message:
“Lives depend on this support, and budgets must never be balanced on the backs of sick and disabled people.”
This public backing gave the campaign both credibility and momentum, and Transit Media was proud to help deliver it where it mattered most.

Supporting Rapid Response Campaigning
This campaign demonstrates the value of mobile digital advertising for organisations seeking to respond quickly to political developments or shifts in public sentiment. Transit Media was proud to provide a fast and flexible solution by helping 38 Degrees bring a critical message to a national stage at precisely the right time.
“Thanks again for all your help making Tuesday’s stunt happen – it was such a powerful moment, and we’re really glad to have been able to go ahead with it.” — 38 Degrees team
